On November 27, 1974, Mr. C.B. Gleason, Banking Manager for Del Monte sent a letter to Bay Area treasury professionals announcing the concept of an association whose primary objective would be to provide a forum for the exchange of Cash Management ideas.
Three months later on February 11, 1975, the initial meeting of the Bay Area Cash Management Association (BACMA) was held at Paoli’s Restaurant in San Francisco and Ben Gleason was elected its first president. During the next two monthly meetings, the topics for discussion were the incredible cash management ideas of "Zero Balance Accounts" and "Remote Disbursements."
Known as the San Francisco Treasury Management Association (SFTMA) today, the SFTMA currently boasts a membership consisting of many of the Bay Area and surrounding cities’ top treasury professionals.
Membership is open to treasury professionals of all levels; from business and non-profit organizations of any size, to financial institutions and educational institutions; large and small --- the SFTMA is the number one resource and gathering place for exchange of treasury information.
Welcome to the San Francisco Treasury Management Association (SFTMA) website.
For over two decades the San Francisco Treasury Management Association has been providing professional and technical education in treasury management subjects and offering its members a forum for exchange of information. Our members are professionals in the treasury/finance field representing a wide range of responsibilities and industries.
The SFTMA Luncheons, held every third Tuesday of each month, feature guest speakers who present the most timely topics and issues in the treasury field.
Each fall, we join forces with the Silicon Valley Associations for Financial Professionals (SVAFP) to host a joint dinner event to provide the opportunity to exchange ideas and information with our Bay Area colleagues.
And once a year we collaborate under the San Francisco Treasury Symposium (www.sftreasurysymposium.org) to offer a day-long event with series of educational lectures and presentations to enhance the skills and knowledge of Treasury Professionals.
Members are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings, joint meeting, and annual symposium to expand their network and obtain CTP credits.
Among the services to our members, we are in the process of developing the Career Opportunities List, a list of treasury positions submitted by employers and recruiting firms to promote Treasury career opportunities.
Feel free to browse our website to learn more about the SFTMA, membership benefits and events.
We look forward to seeing you at our events.
Sincerely,
Building bridges between treasury professionals
