2016 currency war line-up’ We expect 2016 to continue to show wide divergence in currency performance. G20 policymakers are increasingly aggressive in talking their currencies down. The questions: 1) how much more room for EUR and JPY to fall? 2) will RMB join the club and drag the rest of EM down another notch? 3) Is there a point at US policymakers actively rebuff USD strength? and 4) why do policymakers lean so much on currency weakness when the impact on export volumes is so modest?
